EXPLANATIONS & DEFINITIONS:
Fire trucks position at the ends of the runway during practice sessions for quick response if needed. They typically move into place 15 minutes prior to practice beginning.
NOTAM: stands for Notice to Airmen, now officially referred to by the FAA as Notice to Air Missions.
A NOTAM is a time-sensitive aviation notice that alerts pilots and flight personnel to important conditions, such as:
- Runway or taxiway closures
- Navigation equipment outages
- Temporary flight restrictions (TFRs) -like when the Blue Angels are going to practice.
- Airspace hazards
- Changes to airport operations
